With the gradual popularization of new energy vehicles, including that up to now, the sales volume of new energy vehicles has accounted for more than 50%, for those of us in the automotive aftermarket, how to distinguish what type of car a new energy vehicle is? When reading information or studying, how to distinguish vehicle types when encountering letters? Share this basic knowledge with everyone.
Many new energy vehicle manufacturers are labeling their vehicles as BEV or HEV or PHEV. What do these letters mean?
BEV - Battery Electric vehicle, is also a form of new energy vehicle currently being vigorously promoted in the market. The power source relies entirely on the power battery. At present, pure electric vehicles refer to this type of vehicle.
HEV, PHEV and REEV are all hybrid vehicles.
HEV - Hybrid Electric vehicle, which has an engine and a power battery. However, the battery cannot be replenished through external charging and can only be replenished by running the vehicle engine. 48V mild hybrid, Honda, and Toyota hybrid vehicles basically belong to this type.
PHEV-----Plug-in Hybrid Electric vehicle, which also has two power systems: engine and power battery. Unlike HEV, power is supplemented by an external power supply. Even if the engine is not working, the power battery can serve as an independent drive system to meet the needs of vehicle driving. Take BYD's DM-i super hybrid as the representative.
REEV----Extended-Range Electric Vehicles, the power system only has a power battery. The engine is only responsible for charging the battery and does not participate in the vehicle's drive system. The current ideal is a representative model.
In addition to hybrid vehicles, FCV refers to fuel cell vehicles, and hydrogen fuel cells are currently being developed.
